Comfy Cozy

This second week of spring break has kind of been a snooze fest. The combination of my boyfriend and a lot of my friends being away mixed with the bitter weather gave me absolutely no desire to go out.

I've been staying home, making good food and getting a lot of work done, so things certainly could have been worse.

Winter Has Hit Again

Urgh. As expected, the temperature has dropped significantly. It's pretty cold and miserable in New York, so when I found out I was accepted to my top choice school in SoCal, you can bet that I was more than a little excited!

Yup, it's that time of year when tensions run high and college admission letters come out. I've had some fortune and some misfortune, but overall I'm happy and proud of my acceptances so far.

Anyway, after getting a majority of our college letters, Damien and I headed out in the bitter weather to have dinner at Big Daddy Diner and see the Hunger Games. Both dinner and the movie were AMAZING.

I should explain that I got the sweater and jeans the other day at a clothes swap I did with my friends. It was honestly an awesome idea, as we all came home with a whole load of new stuff. I would definitely be down to do one again.

I think I might make a clothes haul video or post soon to show you what I got in the swap. Good idea?

Pop of Color

I'm so proud of myself lately! I've slowly been moving into colors for pretty much the first time...well...uh...ever.

It has been so sunny and beautiful in New York the past week or so and I'm desperately trying to take advantage of it before it goes away again. Well at least if the temperature drops again my new colored pants might keep things cheerful!

[sorry my hair is wet!] shirt- Co-op Barneys, pants- BDG, UO, shoes- Vans, necklace- bought it in India, bracelet- flea market

I wore these fun pants to go prom dress shopping at Bloomingdales with my friend Julie. We both found dresses that we fell in love with immediately. I bought this gorgeous neon pink strappy, flowy, short Alice + Olivia dress. I can't decide whether to post a photo of it now or keep you all waiting until prom :)

I went to IHOP on this day with my boyfriend. We had a $20 Groupon, so our whole meal--including tax and tip--was $5. Brilliant.

Sunny NYC

Sorry about the horrible sun glare, ahh. This just proves quite how lovely and sunny it is in NYC lately! Unfortunately the weather forecast is predicting a big dip in temperature next week. Bummer.

Yesterday was such a beautiful day. It started out a bit murky but soon brightened up. If you know me at all, you know I'm an absolute walkaholic. If there is a glimpse of sun you can guarantee I will be out walking. I actually started my day yesterday by walking about  mile and a half to meet my friend Victoria at the new Panera. And let me just tell you, it was soo good (the walk and the Panera, that is.)

After our tasty lunch Victoria and I continued to traipse around Manhattan and do a little vintage/thrift shopping. I purchased an amazing off-kilter washed out black All Saints top for $19, and right after I bought it my mum called me and told me she had just bought me neon orange jeans. SCORE! Two amazing items in one day :)

It was my friend Hannah's birthday yesterday, so I spent the night with her and our two other friends feasting on Thai food, going on a quick shopping spree to Target, and then feasting a little bit more on cake. It was lovely.

Today is the day for prom dress shopping, so I'll let you know how it goes!

My St. Patrick's Day

After looking through my closet yesterday on the hunt for something green, I came to the realization that I have hardly anything green. So, this is my best take on a St. Patrick's Day outfit....

jacket- Chipie [I literally got it when I was 8 or 9 though], shirt- Free People, shorts- Silence & Noise, UO, tights- Ann Taylor, boots- Doc Martens, bracelets- Thailand, Brandy Melville, LF, flea market, necklace- a fairy speciality store in Hampstead, London.

Yesterday we threw my friend for a surprise dinner. Usually with surprise parties, the person finds out, but luckily, Sam had no idea. I made Sam a cake with my two other friends Julie and Eve, and it was a hit! We were so nervous about how it would taste considering making it was such a hassle! It was an angel food cake with a vanilla glaze and strawberries in the middle :) Yummy.

Erin by Erin Fetherston

I came across this Erin by Erin Fetherston line whilst flicking through the latest Teen Vogue. I had stalled on the page primarily because I noticed a girl from my old school was modeling all the dresses, but then I noticed how gorgeous the dresses actually are, and how perfect they would be for prom.

I'm only 5ft 1 and a half, so for me, wearing a shorter dress for prom is probably more flattering. I still want something formal, but I also want something cute, flirty and spring-like. That's why I think Erin by Erin Fetherston's Spring 2012 fun little dresses are so ideal. Plus, they're not too expensive as they're only about $250 to $350.

Hurry up Spring Break!

Ah, it honestly feels like this workload is never ending. One more week and then I'm free for two weeks, thank god! Unfortunately I still have a speech to make, an Ecology midterm, and a whole lot of Senior Project work to do before the week ends. I think I can make it?

This weekend wasn't too eventful for me. I went out on Friday night but felt god awful, and stayed home Saturday night and watched episode after episode of Sweet Genius (anyone else watch that show? So good!). Today I wrote my "senior speech" which I'm actually really proud of. Every senior at my school has to give a speech to the upper school (and I think middle schoolers too?) and mine is on Thursday. I'm not nervous, but I am excited to get it over with! Anyway, after I finished writing my speech Damien and I went out for a lovely Japanese dinner followed by a huge fro-yo from 16 Handles :) Yum.

shirt- Equipment, pants- Current/Elliot, boots- Harley Davidson, necklace- LF

I was really disappointed by this Equipment shirt. It looks all tattered, already, and I've only worn it three times. I love these pants though. I got them for $20 at a thrift store on Melrose Ave. in LA. Talk about a good deal!

The weather is getting so much nicer in NYC and I'm so happy :)! I hope this is permanent! I just ordered a pair of mint green pastel high rise jeans from UO! Pastels have been selling out EVERYWHERE! I also need a pair of good denim shorts, but I can wait a little to get those since I don't think it will be that warm for a while. I pretty much need to restock my closet for this summer since I've gained about 15 pounds (purposefully, I need to...) since last summer! Ah well. I still have some time!

It feels like spring!

The weather in New York has suddenly become beautiful. It's warm and sunny, I love it! However, I know it won't last, so I'm trying to soak it up all that I can before it's gone again.

Had such a crazy day yesterday. My friends found a dog and we had to try to get it to a shelter before our friend Emily's birthday dinner. It was complete and utter insanity. It all worked out in the end though, thank god!

I'm off to write 2 essays, a speech, study for a math test, catch up with my math homework, and work on my senior project. Wish me luck!

What's New

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. I've been so sick these past couple of days, so unless you'd like to see photos of me in my pajamas then I don't have much to offer! Today I finally got off my ass though and did some necessary things at school, bought my friend Emily a birthday present, and spent the rest of my Barnes and Noble gift card on the Marie Claire Runway Spring/Summer 2012 magazine.

Anyway, since I have been a bad blogger lately, I decided to show you some of the stuff I've picked up lately (not including the things I have blogged about), so here you go:

And, since I'm such a foodie, here are my new eats:

IMG_1834
My new American snacks: Emerald's Cocoa Roasted Almonds, White Chocolate Wonderful PB&Co., Chocolate Chip Teddy Grahams, Chocolate Dipped Coconut Luna Bar, White Chocolate Wonderful ThinkThin bar, Iced Oatmeal Raisin Clif Kid's Z Bar, Hershey's sugar free special dark chocolate, Trident Layers lime & cherry, Mini Caramel Nut Brownie Luna Bar, Arizona Diet Green Tea powder.

My new snacks from France: Mini BN cookies, Hovis Digestives, Mini Kinder Easter Eggs, Chupa Chups lollipops, Pom Potes, sugar popcorn, Bonne Maman tartelettes, Lindt Creme Brulee chocolate, chocolate covered banana pieces.

Okay all this food makes me look like such a pig, aha. I promise, I'm not. These snacks will last me a LONG LONG time, and all the chocolate is only for special spread out chocolate craving occasions :)

Hopefully soon I'll be better and out of my bed again!

OOTD.

I apologize that I've not been too great at blogging lately. For some reason I have so much work lately. I don't understand why people think being a second semester senior is easy because it's really really not. I'm also starting to get sick, and since I haven't been sick all winter I suppose it's due time!

dress- LF, shoes- Steve Madden, bracelets- Brandy & Melville, flea market, independent designers pop up in Chelsea, Thailand, tights- Ann Taylor

The boots and dress are both new and I got great deals on both of them. I love end-of-season sales, so I'm having a blast at the moment.

Pastel Colors

If you read this blog, you may have noticed that I am not a huge fan of color. My closet mostly consists of blacks and grays, and if there is a color, it is probably a dark shade or scarcely featured in a pattern. Lately, however, I've really started to fall in love with pastels. I've started small with pastel nail polish, but maybe soon we'll be seeing some pastels in my nail polish.
